20. Adrien Brody Kisses Halle Berry (2003)
When Adrien Brody won Best Actor for The Pianist, he devoted much of his speech time to grabbing Halle Berry and planting an aggressive, unscripted kiss on her lips without warning. Berry later revealed she was thinking “What the f—k is happening right now” during the moment. Cutaway shots showed male actors cheering while several female stars looked concerned.
The kiss, which was not planned or consensual in the moment, sparked immediate debate about boundaries on stage. It turned what should have been a triumphant acceptance into one of the most uncomfortable celebrity interactions ever broadcast from the Oscars.
