5. Emile Hirsch

Emile Hirsch was the indie darling turned leading man after his raw, Oscar-nominated turn in *Into the Wild* (2007). By the mid-2010s, he was booking major studio roles and looked destined for consistent A-list status in Hollywood.
In January 2015 at Sundance, Hirsch allegedly choked and threw a female Paramount executive across a table during a drunken altercation. He pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault, served 15 days in jail, and blamed binge drinking. Major projects dried up; he shifted to low-budget indies and voice work. Even a small role in *Once Upon a Time in Hollywood* sparked backlash. His trajectory never recovered.
